It has been reported to Ceylon Today that Chief Secretary of the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), Minister of Power and Energy Champika Ranawaka, is extremely displeased with the government as they are still following an inactive procedure by not taking legal action against those accused of corruption and fraud, which have been revealed so far.<\/p>\n

Certain sources say the JHU has decided to give a leeway of another month or so, to see whether investigations will be launched into frauds and corruption under these circumstances.
\nEven after that, if the government does not take action, it is reported that the JHU is prepared to take steps against the inaction.<\/p>\n

The JHU has convened a meeting today of civil activists who have dedicated themselves to bringing the new government into power, as an initial step against corruption, at the Solis Hall in Pita Kotte.<\/p>\n

It is a known factor that Ranawaka strongly criticized the government on a number of incidents especially, letting the Chairman of the Avant Guard Security Firm, which is said to have been involved in a corrupt deal on weapons, Major Nissanka Senadhipathi to leave the country without taking any legal action whatsoever against him.
\nAt the same time, Ranawaka has questioned Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on not taking legal action against Alliance Parliamentarian Duminda Silva, who has been accused of having links with Wele Sudha, who has been remanded on charges of having been involved in a large -scale drug smuggling racket.<\/p>\n

Further, it has been revealed to Ceylon Today that Ranawaka has questioned the government as to why arrangements are not being made to take legal action against Duminda Silva on drug charges and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is questioning him only on money laundering matters.<\/p>\n

It has been reported that the JHU, which fulfilled major tasks in bringing the new government to power by opposing corruption and frauds, are preparing to make known in the future that corrupt persons are being protected under these circumstances or to take steps to quit the government.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, co-convener of the Anti-Corruption Front, Member of the Western Provincial Council of the JHU, Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe, who visited the Bribery Commission on Friday (21) to submit complaints regarding seven incidents of large-scale corruption and fraud committed by the previous government, told the media that if the government is hesitating in punishing corrupt persons, the government will have to abandon all their powers and leave.
