Perera<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees have been quietly contemplating, discussing and taking the important decision of ending refugee status. They are considering options that would better their economic status, particularly in the interest of their children.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nMany among the refugees are considering the option of returning. However, they need assistance to accomplish their desire. Agreements from the governments, packages and success stories of economic and security situation in the island would improve their confidence to return.  <\/p>\n<p>Refugees worldwide often remain voiceless, left with no choices and pushed to take decision under duress. Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees should not be put in such predicament. OfERR, an organisation of Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees, has been walking along with refugees for the last 32 years, advocating their needs and aspirations.<\/p>\n<p>Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees have spoken their mind when they articulated 48 expectations to facilitate a structured return.  They also deliberated upon the stages of repatriation, issues \/ vulnerabilities associated with, how these can be addressed and which government may take responsibility at each stage. They need this assurance to be able to move forward in their homeland. <\/p>\n<p>Refugees having lived in India have imbibed democratic values, cherish tolerance and focus on well being of everyone.  The pluralistic outlook will augur well, their education and skill sets utilized for spurring economic growth and supporting under privileged in the island.<\/p>\n<p>It is in this context, Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees have been watching with interest the latest developments.
