He made this announcement at a special press conference at New Town Hall Colombo a short while ago. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_8618.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_8618.png\" alt=\"IMG_8618.PNG\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He has released his slogan for the upcoming Presidential election next year titled,\u2018Supirisidu Nayakathwayak, Maithree palanayak\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The press conference was also attended by former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge, Prof. Rajiva Wijesinghe, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Arjuna Ranatunge, wasantha Senanayake, M.K.S. Gunawardena and Duminda Dissanayake.<\/p>\n<p>While thanking those who selected him as the common candidate, Sirisena stated that the state of affairs of the country was not healthy after the war ended.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We worked hard to set up People&#8217;s Alliance and the UPFA. We helped to be victorious. But, after the war the situation was not much healthy,&#8221; he said.  <\/p>\n<p>While criticizing the 18th Amendment, he further stated that he would wo rk towards abolishing Executive Presidency. &#8220;At present there is no rule of law and there is no media freedom,&#8221; he added. <\/p>\n<p>He further stated that Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe would be appointed as Prime Minister in the event he emerges victorious.
