Your Excellency,<\/em><\/p>\n

Official Visit to the North<\/strong><\/p>\n

I wish you all success in your historical three day visit to the North.<\/p>\n

Commencement of the Yarl Devi train service to and from Jaffna and the implementation of certain important projects are very much welcomed by the people of the North.<\/p>\n

Whatever valuable and useful project you may undertake in the North, the Tamil people may not give you any credit until you make the Tamils genuinely feel that you are the President not only for the North and East but of the entire country and that you are treating every one equally.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

You say that you will create a country where everybody lives in unity, peace and harmony, not only that but also with dignity and honor, enjoying all power and privileges equally with all the others.<\/p>\n

You had said that it is also the responsibility of the people\u2019s representatives to work for the good of the country. How can we expect them to be so, when even after witnessing for several years the sufferings the people under went, their losses of life and property worth several billions, several trillions worth of public property, such as railway, telecom, Airport, Electricity etc., accepted the LTTE as the National Head of the Tamil people and as sole representatives of the Tamil people.<\/p>\n

I thank you on behalf of the people for your kind gesture of returning to the owners the jewellery they pawned without recovering the capital and the interest on the borrowings. <\/p>\n

I strongly urge you Your Excellency to extend the same generosity to the people from whom the LTTE collected three sovereign per family and return the equivalent of it in cash.<\/p>\n

If I am not asking too much, while thanking your Government for instructing the lending institutions to reduce the rate of interest on the lending, I strongly urge, in view of the massive profit the banks made during the rush for loans soon after the war, to reduce the rate of interest and cause to refund to the owners any excess amount collected as interest, penal interest or other penalties.<\/p>\n
