{"id":34078,"date":"2014-10-12T23:29:14","date_gmt":"2014-10-13T03:29:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=34078"},"modified":"2014-10-12T23:29:14","modified_gmt":"2014-10-13T03:29:14","slug":"president-rajapaksa-states-he-will-abolish-executive-presidency-if-tamil-national-alliance-and-tamil-diaspora-give-up-tamil-eelam-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=34078","title":{"rendered":"President Rajapaksa States he will Abolish Executive Presidency if Tamil National Alliance and Tamil Diaspora Give up Tamil eelam Demand."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday announced in Kilinochchi that he was ready to abolish the Executive Presidency, if the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and the Tamil Diaspora gave up the demand for the creation of a Tamil Eelam in the country&#8217;s North and East and made an announcement to that effect.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a public rally where land deeds were gifted to the Tamil people in Kilinochchi, the President stressed that the TNA and the Tamil Diaspora should make a sincere announcement that they would shun Eelam to exist under a unitary character of the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>He said as the Executive President he enjoyed the required majority in Parliament to scrap the Executive Presidency and was confident that other than him, no other leader would be able to abolish the executive system.<\/p>\n<p>The President also warned that as long as he held the office of Executive President, he would not permit an Eelam in this country and would not scrap the executive system as long as the TNA and the Tamil Diaspora continued to demand Eelam.<\/p>\n<p>The President is in the North on an official visit.
