Chairman of the Bharathiya Janatha Party Committee on Strategic Action and former Union Minister of the Government of India Dr. Subramanian Swamy is confident that Tamil Nadu would soften its stance on Sri Lanka with regard to its concerns on human rights issues.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Nation during the Defense Seminar held in Colombo last week, Dr. Swamy pointed out that the protests against Sri Lanka, and his visit to the seminar, were spearheaded by a minuscule number of people. \u201cNobody takes them seriously and it is essentially organized by a cinema director who has made all his films on LTTE drug money. He is kind of a financial orphan. His name is Seeman,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are against any normalcy in the relations between Sri Lanka and India. But normalcy is coming. It\u2019s already here and in a few months India and Sri Lanka will become absolutely good friends, supporting each other,\u201d Dr. Swamy added.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the stance of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa Jayaram, Dr. Swamy said that she was \u2018in a difficult situation\u2019. \u201cShe is a Brahmin Chief Minister. She is heading a party which came out of a Dravida Movement. So she wants to show that she\u2019s not Brahmanical in outlook,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Speaking further on whether Tamil Nadu could become a hub for the revival of the LTTE, Dr. Swamy said that there is a possibility. \u201cYes, it can be. That is a possibility. We have told the State Government about it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
