Sues Kurunegala Diocese Anglican Bishop Shantha Francis for Alleged Illegal Removal from Trinity College Board of Governors."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\nProf. Rajiva Wijesinha, MP, and Member of the Board of Governors of Trinity College, Kandy, has filed plaint in the District Court of Colombo claiming\u2002Rs\u20025 million as damages from Bishop\u2002Shantha\u2002Francis, Bishop of\u2002Kurunegala and Chairman of the Board of Governors, for loss of reputation\u2002for\u2002his allegedly illegal removal from the Board of Governors.\u2002<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wijesinha\u2002claims\u2002that the Constitution of the Board states explicitly that the removal of a Board member requires two thirds majority. \u2002The Board consists of 14 members and accordingly a minimum of 10 votes are required for a valid removal. \u2002Only nine votes which included the vote of the Bishop of\u2002Kurunegala\u2002were cast for his removal.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Bishop Francis had allegedly claimed that he had legal opinion that\u2002he had the required majority and had confirmed Wijesinha\u2019s removal.
