Noted Tamil novelist and short story writer Sri Venugopalan, popularly known as \u2018Pushpa\u2019 Thangadurai, passed away at a hospital in Chennai on Sunday after a brief illness, family sources said.<\/p>\n

He was 82 and a bachelor. He is survived by his sister.

\nThangadurai had been on ventilator support for the last two weeks at Rajiv Gandhi government general hospital.<\/p>\n

His condition worsened on Sunday and he passed away at around 1800 hrs, the sources said.<\/p>\n

He had written over 2,000 novels and over 1,000 short stories under the pen name — \u2018Pushpa\u2019 and was a recipient of several awards.<\/p>\n

Some of his works like \u2018Oru Oothappu Kan Simitugiradhu\u201d and \u201cNandha En Nila\u201d were also made into Tamil movies, they said. courtesy: The Hindu<\/em><\/p>\n
