The chief ministerial candidate of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) at the Northern Provincial Council polls, C.V. Vigneswaran, has appealed to the Northern voters to vote for the TNA and help the Alliance register a landslide victory, to enable it to implememt the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.<\/p>\n

Former Judge of the Supreme Court, C.V. Vigneswaran, filed his nomination as the chief ministerial candidate of the TNA at 12:21 p.m. at the Government Secretariat in Jaffna, yesterday.<\/p>\n

Soon after filing his nomination, he addressed the media and said the voters in the Northern Province should show their solidarity by making the TNA victorious at the forthcoming Northern Provincial Council polls.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“The 13th Amendment should be implemented to solve the unresolved problems of the Tamils. Therefore, by ensuring the TNA registers a landslide victory, the voters in the North will be able to look forward to the 13th Amendment being implemented,” Vigneswaran said.<\/p>\n

He also said, in the elections held in the past, the people in the North and East had ensured that the TNA had emerged victorious. Therefore, similar to what they had done in the past, the people of the North should work to make the TNA the reigning party in the North to fulfill the political aspirations of the Tamils.<\/p>\n

Except for three senior Tamil United Liberation Front members (TULF) staging a satyagraha by the monument of S.J.V. Chelvanayagam for not being included in the TNA’s list of candidates, the filing of nominations at the Jaffna Government Secretariat had taken place sans any incident.<\/p>\n

The nominations of the TNA were also filed at the other four electoral Districts of Mannar, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya and Mullaitivu, without any issues.<\/p>\n

The candidates took part in religious observances before filing their nominations.
