( This is a Near Verbatim Translation of the Bodhu Bala Sena\u2019s 10 Point Manifesto proclaimed publicly at the Maharagama Rally)<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama has been issuing Halal certificates in an illegal manner, saying it is part of Muslim religious tradition. Only the Sri Lanka Standards Institute can issue such certificates. Issuing Halal certificates in an illegal manner and obtaining money for it should be banned.<\/p>\n

2. By ignoring the 91% of Buddhists, Christians and Hindus in Sri Lanka and issuing Halal certificates for products, the business community are discriminating towards non-Muslims. All business institutions must stop this injustice meted out to a majority of the Sri Lankan community. By the 2013 Sinhala New Year the public should have the freedom to purchase anything without religious discrimination.<\/p>\n

3. Halal is a quality certificate meant only for Muslims so there is no reason why Buddhists, Hindus and Christians should pay taxes for such products. They should not purchase such products.<\/p>\n

4. Funds from Middle Eastern countries should not be used to purchase land or acquire local businesses. All activities seen as a threat to national security and culture should not be allowed.<\/p>\n

5. Foreigners in Sri Lanka on a tourist visa who are engaging in unethical conversions should be deported from Sri Lanka by March 17 this year.<\/p>\n

6. A close watch should be kept on groups spreading religious extremism and such groups should be banned. The law should be applied to all and there should not be separate laws binding government and nongovernmental organizations.<\/p>\n

7. There is no national policy to control the population growth in the country. Some NGOs are funding the control in the rise of the Sinhala population. Such NGOs should be monitored by the defence authorities and religious groups or NGOs should not be allowed to control population growth. If a national policy on population growth cannot be created, then NGOs should be removed from being involved in such activity completely.<\/p>\n

8. Sending women to Middle Eastern countries to work as domestics should be banned.<\/p>\n

9. Buddhist locations and archaeological sites should be protected. Archaeological sites in the North and East should be identified and protected.<\/p>\n

10. Protecting the Budhasasana is a historic right of the country. The recommendations of the 1959 Budhasasana commission and the report of that commission should be implemented through the introduction of the relevant laws.<\/p>\n
