M. S. Sellasamy (94), a former Minister and veteran politician and the former General Secretary of Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) passed away following a brief illness at his residence in Colombo, yesterday.
One time District Chairman of the CWC, was elected its Secretary in the year 1963,and was the President of the Estate Staff Congress, Ceylon Teachers Congress and contested the General Election 1977 from Colombo.
He was a Member of the 1981’1988 Colombo DDC and was elected as a Member of the Western Provincial Council.
He entered Parliament contesting from Colombo at the 1989 General Election and was a Deputy Minister of Transport and later was appointed the State Minister of Industries.
His body now lies at his residence at 50, Baudhaloka Mawatha, Bambalapitiya, Colombo 4.
