Concerns over state of governance were raised yesterday in political circles with President Maithripala Sirisena leaving to China on an official visit leading to the cancellation of today’s Cabinet meeting, putting off key decisions when the country is in a state of emergency post-Easter Sunday terror attacks.

President Sirisena along with a large delegation left to China to attend the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations in Beijing from 15 to 22 May. China President Xi Jinping will attend the event and deliver a keynote speech.

Presidential Secretariat has earlier confirmed that President Sirisena will be visiting China from 14 to 16 May and he would be meeting his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping today.

Over 2,000 government officials and representatives of various circles from 47 Asian countries and other countries outside the region will attend the opening ceremony and forums.
