Having accepted the resignations of six SLFP ministers, President Sirisena yesterday allocated additional ministerial portfolios to four ministers, temporarily, pending a Cabinet reshuffle after the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

Special Assignment Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama received skills development and vocational training portfolios in addition to science and research subjects, which were previously under Chandima Weerakkody and Susil Premjayantha.

Power and Renewable Energy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya received disaster management portfolio, previously held by Anura Priyadarshana Yapa.

President Sirisena assigned sports portfolio to Provincial Council and Local Government Minister Faizer Musthapa. Dayasiri Jayasekera was the Sports Minister previously.

UNPer Malik Samarawickrema, currently development strategies and international trade minister has been given the portfolios held by both S. B. Dissanayake (Social Empowerment, Welfare and Kandyan Heritage) and John Seneviratne (Labour and Labour Relations).
