Former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake has said that revelations made by the final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry which investigated the treasury bond issuance of the Central Bank are false.
Addressing a UNP meeting in Colombo, on Saturday, the former Finance Minister said that he had requested a copy of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry report on the Central Bank bond scams.
Karunanayake said that he would make a detailed comment on the report once he secured a copy of it.
“We believe that only part of the report has been presented. I will comment on the report after the Prime Minister and I are provided with copies of the report. Neither the Prime Minister nor I have committed anything wrong.” Karunanayake said.
Karunanayake said that there had been attempts to frighten the UNP by slinging mud at its key leaders. “They have resorted to character assassination to scare the UNP’s rank and file. Such tactics won’t work. We are confident that our supporters will provide an answer on Feb. 10. Our victory is assured.”
