Chairperson of the National Lotteries Board Shermila Perera yesterday said that lottery agents would not be paid anything more than the current four-rupee commission. She said she would not give in to that unreasonable demand.
She said that neither President Maithripala Sirisena nor Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe nor Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake had asked her to pay them a higher commission.
Asked whether the agents would be paid a higher commission, Perera said if the Lotteries Board was to pay the agents more it would have to close down.
Last week the lottery agents struck work and launched a protest demanding a higher commission.
