State Minister of International Trade yesterday accused Rajapaksa brothers of instigating their supporters in Hambantota to disrupt a ceremony to mark the launch of an industrial park on Saturday by disseminating false information.
The protest was organised by the Joint Opposition.
Addressing the media at the Government Information Department, Sujeewa Senasinghe said: “If their mobile phone details are scrutinised we will know where the Rajapaksas were calling their supporters from.”
The State Minister said that among the troublemakers had been droves of men in yellow robes who were not monks.
“The Hambantota Port and the Mattala Airport are white elephants built by the UPFA government leaders to line their pockets,” he said adding that future generations would be burdened with the repayment of the loans the previous government had obtained.
The unity government however would continue with those two projects. The government would continue with the projects left behind in debt by the UPFA and make them viable, Senasinghe said.
