Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said that President Maithripala Sirisena had ordered the Defence Ministry to reverse its decision to withdraw half of the soldiers in the former’s security contingent following objections raised in parliament by two UPFA MPs.

Hence the entire contingent of 103 soldiers will remain with former President Rajapaksa.

The Defence Ministry decided to withdraw the contingent of soldiers and replace them with Ministerial Security Division personnel and it was officially announced by Defence Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi at a media briefing on Cabinet decisions at the Government Information Department.
