Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Executive Committee decided at an emergency meeting yesterday to conduct an immediate inquiry into claims that members of Sri Lanka women’s cricket team management and national selectors had to be bribed sexually by Sri Lanka women’s cricketers if they were to get selected to the national team and keep their places.

These shocking allegations had been made in a local media report last week, and the exco members had felt it required immediate attention.

SLC Vice President Mohan de Silva, Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga, Assistant Secretary Hirantha Perera and chief men’s national selector Sanath Jayasuriya have been appointed to a committee to investigate the allegations.

The committee will conduct their inquiry on Thursday and will summon National selectors, Team Officials including national team Manager and Coach and also all members of the national squad to give evidence.
