R. de Silva Mawatha (Union Place.)Abhayawardhana served as Chairman of the People’s Bank during Dr. N.M. Perera’s tenure as Finance Minister and was responsible for many innovations there.
He married Kusala, a former UNP Municipal Councilor and a member of a well known business family, who was subsequently elected to Parliament from the Borella constituency on the LSSP ticket.
Abhayawardhana lived in India for many years during an earlier period of his life.
His remains will lie at LSSP headquarter from 12 noon today, leaving for the General Cemetery at 4 p.m. for cremation at 6 p.m. today.
